FD80: Freeze Dryer
The Cuddon Freeze Dry Machines were designed after consideration of the factors necessary for successful Freeze Drying. The Model FD80 General Purpose Freeze Dryer is one of our freeze dry machines capable of drying a variety of biological, pharmaceutical, nutritional and general food products.
Description:
- Chamber: Our general purpose freeze dry machines have a chamber 0.9 metres in diameter by 1.8 metres in length and are constructed from T304 stainless steel.
- Heating Plates/Shelves: Our general purpose freeze dry machines have plates fabricated from T304 stainless steel to allow an even internal distribution of the heating or cooling medium. The shelf spacing can be factory set at manufacture to suit individual loading as per the clients product needs if necessary. Two sets of T316 stainless steel product trays are supplied.
- Vapour Condenser: Our general purpose freeze dry machines have a vapour condenser manufactured from T304 stainless steel tube in three separate circuits. The assembly is bolted as a permanent fixture. Refrigeration of the coil is by direct expansion via a thermostatic valve and distributor.
- Defrosting: Defrosting the ice after a product cycle is by water. Heated water defrost is standard in water cooled dryers. Heat recovery for water heating can be offered as an option when at cooled option is used.
- Refrigeration: The refrigeration compressor is a Bitzer semi-hermetic, matched to a system fitted with oil separator, suction accumulator, filters, and all necessary safety devices for correct operation. The system will allow refrigeration of the product plates prior to drying. The FD80 freeze dry machines are fitted with a water cooled refrigerant condenser, and water control valve. Ice vapour coil design temperature is -40°C.
- Vacuum System: The vacuum pump has a rated capacity of 28 cubic metres per hour. It features vacuum isolation in the event of power failure and a gas ballast facility. The pumping line has a separate isolation valve.
- Heating System: The heating fluid is glycol based and is pumped by a centrifugal pump through a circuit which allows immersion elements to heat or refrigeration to cool the fluid that is circulated through the plates. Energy is supplied on demand of the electronic load controller.
