FD300: Freeze Dryer
The range of Cuddon freeze drying equipment was designed after consideration of the factors necessary for pharmaceutical and general purpose freeze-drying. The Model 300 is the first in our range of general purpose commercial freeze drying equipment. The Model 300 is capable of drying most products using a proven 24 hour drying cycle.
The Model 300 is essentially a larger version of the our 200 model freeze drying equipment and shares many similar features.
Description:
- Heating Plates/Shelves: This range of freeze drying equipment features plates fabricated from type 304 stainless steel to allow an even distribution of the heating or cooling medium. The shelf spacing can be factory set at manufacture to suit individual loading as per the clients product needs if necessary. Two sets of type 316 stainless steel product trays are supplied.
- Vapour Condenser: The vapour condenser in our freeze drying equipment is manufactured from type 304 stainless steel tube. The assembly is bolted as a permanent fixture. The coil is refrigerated by direct expansion via a thermostatic valve and distributor.
- Defrosting: Defrosting the ice after a product cycle is by water. Hot water is recommended to assist in rapid defrosting. Heat recovery for water heating can be offered as an option.
- Refrigeration: The refrigeration compressor is Bitzer semi-hermetic, or similar, matched to a system fitted with oil separator, suction accumulator, filters and all necessary safety devices for correct operation. The system will allow refrigeration of the product plates prior to drying. The Model 200 freeze drying equipment is fitted with a water cooled refrigerant condenser, and water control valve. Ice vapour coil design temperature is -40 deg. Celsius.
- Vacuum System: The rotary vane vacuum pump is connected to the chamber by heavy duty PVC lines and pneumatic isolating valve. The exhaust of the pump is vented to the exterior of the building. The pump is equipped with a gas ballast facility.
- Heating System: The heating fluid is glycol based and is pumped by a centrifugal pump through a circuit which allows immersion elements to heat or refrigeration to cool the fluid that is circulated through the plates. Energy is supplied on demand of the electronic load controller.
